Current Programs​

Image Maker Films presents independent films, public screenings, moderated discussions, artist talks, and educational programs that advance social justice, human rights, and cross-cultural understanding. Our programs create space for audiences to engage with stories about identity, migration, gender, faith, belonging, discrimination, and community resilience.

 

Working with libraries, universities, cultural institutions, advocacy groups, and community organizations, we bring films directly to diverse audiences across New York City and beyond. Programs are designed to encourage thoughtful dialogue, amplify underrepresented voices, and connect artists with the communities reflected in their work.

 

 

Our community screening initiative presents socially engaged films followed by moderated conversations with filmmakers, educators, advocates, artists, and community leaders. These events are offered in partnership with public libraries, universities, museums, cultural organizations, and grassroots groups, with an emphasis on free and accessible public participation.

 

Recent programs have included screenings of Elijah, a short film about a South Asian immigrant family navigating gender identity, belonging, and acceptance in New York City. The film has been presented with organizations including NYPL, Queens Library, Brooklyn Public Library, Yale University, UCSF, CUNY LGBTQ Consortium, Bryant Library, Brooklyn Community Pride Center, Strong Youth, Bailey’s Café, Muslim Alliance For Gender Diversity, APICHA, DRUM and community-based organizations.

 

 

Image Maker Films develops programs that use cinema to confront antisemitism, racism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, religious intolerance, and other forms of discrimination. Screenings are paired with guided discussion and educational engagement to help audiences connect historical experiences with contemporary questions of justice, memory, and human dignity.

 

This program includes Kaddish, our award-winning short film exploring Holocaust memory, moral courage, and the consequences of hatred. Through public screenings and conversations, the film supports education about antisemitism, historical memory, and the responsibility to resist dehumanization.

 

 

We support emerging and underrepresented filmmakers through workshops, creative collaboration, paid artistic opportunities, and community-centered production. Our programs help writers, directors, performers, and crew members develop their skills, build professional relationships, and participate in projects that reflect diverse experiences and perspectives.
