About

Image Maker Films’ was founded in August 2020 with a mission to create a platform for underrepresented communities in the visual media; to tell their stories, train them, and involve them in the creation of film. Our goal as a non-profit is to use the powerful medium of film to share important messaging around social justice issues, particularly issues facing the BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and working-class immigrant communities. There is a lack of understanding and compassion regarding those communities, and little to no representation in the mainstream media. The film as a medium is capable of communicating with a large audience, with a much greater reach than local speeches and rallies. Our emotive and compassionate approach to film is highly effective in bonding communities around a common understanding, to enlighten and open doors for future generations. This aspect of filmmaking has gone missing in mainstream film and other media due in part to the mainstream’s business and financial motives.
